Jill Manges Smith (Music Supervisor/Singer-Songwriter/Filmmaker) and Stanley A. Smith (award-winning Composer/ Producer and Filmmaker), LA natives and husband-and-wife team, are no strangers to telling a story through music. The Smiths both got their start in the record business and have worked successfully for the past two decades,

in music for film & and television with their Los Angeles-based music production company, STANDARD MUSIC. To their combined credits, the duo has worked on a mix of over 50 features and made for TV original movies, 350+ episodes of television, documentaries, soundtracks, records, ad campaigns, and web series including several well-known and award-winning TV theme songs. Passionate about the music and the art of filmmaking, Stanley and Jill bring their unique style & vision, and individualized skills to all of the work they do. 

 

Launching their companion STANDARD ENTERTAINMENT film production banner- they set out to direct and produce their first documentary- "Make-Up Women-Glamour & Guts”. A passion project about Hollywood’s first make-up women, featuring Jill’s Mother, retired pioneer Hollywood make-up artist Dee Manges. The duo's "Glamour & Guts"

was a documentary selection of the Sundance Institute | Women In Film - Finance and Strategy Lab and is fiscally sponsored by the IDA.

 

Multi-passionate creatives, the Smiths are still working on completing their doc (thanks pandemic!), and are excited about a couple of original projects they are also developing for their Standard Entertainment banner. While curation takes time- they look forward to future collaborations, and bringing their music, production, and unique life experiences together to tell more original, diverse, and untold underdog stories.
